I used to refuel those United Convairs in 1967 on their brief MFR stop overs when I was a gasboy for RV Skyways. I remember being up on the wing with the gas hose flowing away and looking in through the passenger windows to smile at the through-passengers remaining on the aircraft if I caught them staring at me — and just about ALWAYS, those passengers would immediately look away, as if I were invisible, or something, ha hah! It was an interesting study in human behavior (or the lack, thereof, LOL).
